The End Of A Year...A New Year Begins

The end of the year, a new year begins, new plans, fresh goals, maybe a new beginning...possibly a brand new you...

Okay, so honestly, I hear this a lot, "This year I'm really serious! I'm going to really get in great shape, get healthy, eat better, workout a lot and blah, blah, blah..." I know everyone has great intentions, but 80% of New Year fitness enthusiasts fail in the first month...sad. 

So, is there a way to really make 2018 something special for your health and fitness? YES! Here are some "keys" that can help that New Year Resolution really happen!

First and foremost: You need a "plan!" Not the casual statement of I'm going to cut back on bad food, or drink less beer, and really workout (whenever I can). Unfortunately the "whenever I can" attitude fails. Why, "life" gets in the way. Job, kids, time, and chaos. So we need direction, a guide, a detailed plan. A realistic "this can be done" plan. Which workouts work the best for my body, my time, my commitment? What foods are sabotaging my health? What choices can I make to achieve my goals faster?

Thus, A PLAN! Next: Schedule it, put it on your tablet, laptop, phone, etc. (refrigerator). Make a personal appointment with yourself! You are the most important person in this process. Make yourself a priority! Book yourself out 2 to 3 weeks in advance because things (life) happen. You may have to switch an appointment around...NOT SKIP IT, SWITCH IT! Stick to it!

Now we are getting serious! Next: Attitude. Create a better one! Simply get a better attitude about you. Never talk negative about yourself. Accept compliments along the way. Build upon little successes. It's a wonderful journey, don't spoil it by being negative...EVER!

Oh, here's a hard one! NO EXCUSES! Excuses are like elbows...we all have a couple. Many times it's the same one. My kids, my job, my life. Everybody...EVERYBODY, faces challenges. How you handle them creates the forward movement we need to be successful. Problems? Fix them...move on.

And finally: Consistency. This is not a three-day trial to see if it works! This is your life "shift." It probably took a bit of time to get out of shape, it will take time to get back to the person you are most proud of. Commitment, Patience, Consistency. We all have those days when we don't want to workout and we ALL feel so much better when we do! 

There is a magic pill, it's called a workout! And it works...every time. Show up and it will work for you. 

It's going to be a great 2018!
